Introduction to Hangzhou International Expo Center

Located in Qianjiang Century City on the south bank of Qiantang River, Hangzhou International Expo Center (HIEC) covers a total   floor area of 850,000 square meters. The venue is in a modern simplistic style and also reflects the unique vibe of regions south of the Yangtze River.

In September 2016, Hangzhou International Expo Center was unveiled as the main venue of the G20 Hangzhou Summit. In September 2023, Hangzhou International Expo Center, as the Hangzhou Asian (Para)Games Main Media Centre, the venue for the Asian Games squash competition, and the catering service provider for the Main Media Centre, once again drew global attention.

By the end of Dec 2023, it had witnessed more than 7,900 conferences and more than 310 exhibitions, HIEC is fully scheduled with strategic cooperation intention for exhibitions. With an exhibition area of over 33 million square meters,G20 Hangzhou Summit Experience Venue had received guests from 48 countries and regions as well as 206 million domestic visitors.

As a "companion venue" of Hangzhou International Expo Center, the second phase of HIEC is now under construction. It will be an urban exhibition industry complex including functions such as conferences, offices, high star-level hotels and large-scale exhibitions. After completion, the total exhibition area of the two phases will reach 130,000 square meters. Its scale of exhibition venues will rank among the top large-scale exhibition complexes in China.

Moreover, HIEC has been recognized by many leading international associations with its professional facilities and incredible strength. It is the first professional venue in China that has passed five international standards certifications: ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association), IAEE (International Association of Exhibitions and Events), AIPC - the International Association of Convention Centres, UFI (Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) and UIA (Union of International Associations). In May 2021, HIEC was recognized as the first demonstration base of standardized convention and exhibition industry in Zhejiang Province; in the same month, it was identified by the Standardization Administration of the P.R.C as the pilot unit of international service industry standardization in 2021.

As a venue that leads and implements the "sixth generation convention and exhibition venues" in China, Hangzhou International Expo Center, led by General Manager Tang Xue, continues to develop its traffic value. A sustainable "exhibition+" ecosystem will be gradually formed to boost the development of exhibition industry in the region, promoting the regional economy to upgrade. The development will set a stage for Hangzhou as it speeds up to build itself as an "international conference destination city" as well as the "city of exhibition" and "city of event" with good international reputation!
